Our site monitoring checks the HTTP service, as apposed using ICMP, so those
monitoring web site stats may see an increase in overall page hits whilst
this service is active.
The following
factors are taken into account while monitoring:
First of all, if a failure has been detected, are we sure it's not our own
connection? Check to see if we are able to connect to Google!
Secondly, is this just a blip? Three consecutive failures
must occur before you are notified by e-mail or SMS of such a failure.
